Howdy! My name is Abby Rooney, and I am a senior Chemical Engineering and Spanish double major from Katy, Texas. This year, I am honored to serve as your President. I love SWE and am so excited to have another amazing year in this organization. In the past, I have served as VP of Finance, Professional Development Co-Chair, and SWE Representative. I also did SWElites my freshman year and am now a Big. In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching Netflix, and trying new things. A while back I got scuba certified and am a few hours from completing my Private Pilot License, so hopefully there will be a few new adventures in my future! Mahnoosh is a Ph.D. student in industrial engineering. She got her B.S. degree in petroleum engineering and Economics from Sharif University of Technology. Her research area is in health care, human factors and data science. Mahnoosh joined SWE when she started school at Texas A&M in 2016. She believes that SWE is a professional organization which helps women in engineering to improve their leadership and communication skills and build great networks. In her free time, Mahnoosh enjoys playing the piano, cooking and watching movies.
Sheyenne is a Master’s student in Civil Engineering with a structural engineering specialization. She received her B.S. in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M. Her research involves testing asymmetric steel shapes. She has been a part of SWE since her freshman year of college and loves the community of like-minded women that she has found. In her free time, she enjoys playing board games and video games, watching basketball, and reading.
Manali is a Ph.D. student in Chemical Engineering. She received her M.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from Texas A&M University and her bachelor’s degree from Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Pilani in India. Her current research involves the use of process systems engineering and optimization techniques to reduce the environmental footprint of energy generation systems. Attending the WE19 conference and meeting so many amazing women inspired Manali to join GradSWE at Texas A&M, and contribute to the organization’s efforts in promoting women’s involvement in engineering and technology. Outside of work, Manali enjoys reading, painting and movies.
